Scottish Staycations
We are very lucky that St Andrews is home to many rugged landscapes, iconic locations, beautiful beaches and more.
Here are a few reasons to choose a holiday in St Andrews this year
Avoid the Airport
There’s no need to worry about flights being cancelled, waiting for luggage or organising transfers when you take a staycation break. Simply hop in the car, take in the views and travel along the Fife coastal roads until you arrive in St Andrews.
What’s more, there is free on-street parking right outside our house so it really is a door-to-door journey.
Discover what’s on your doorstep
St Andrews is a seaside town steeped in history so there is plenty to keep you entertained whilst holidaying here.
Our top recommendations include:
- A morning stroll along the beach to breathe in the sea air and set you up for the day ahead
- Soak up the architecture, history and culture of times gone by when exploring the iconic ruin of St Andrews Cathedral
- Discover one of ten golf courses in St Andrews. From the world-famous Old Course which is putting distance from our house to The Torrance and Kittocks courses at Fairmont St Andrews resort, there really is a course for all preferences and abilities in St Andrews.
- Take in all of the independent shops throughout the town. You can also pick up many of your essentials from the likes of Fisher & Donaldson’s bakery, Luvians Bottleshop & I.G Mellis cheesemonger and many more.
City life is on hand
For those who would like to take a trip to the city, St Andrews is only a half-hour drive from Dundee.
The City of Discovery is home to plenty of culture and interesting architecture, with both the V&A Museum and RRS Discovery Ship sitting pride of place on the waterfront. Science, design and technology are also important industries for Dundee so you can choose to visit many attractions including Dundee Science Centre, Dundee Contemporary Arts and the Museum of Transport.
The more, the merrier
Staying in Scotland means that a holiday may be more accessible for more of your friends and family. 1 Links Crescent can sleep up to 6 people across three bedrooms but we also have the house next door, also known as Swilken View, which sleeps 8 people, across four bedrooms, and enjoys panoramic views over the Old Course. So, if you are looking to bring friends and family together, you may look to consider the comfort and additional space of two homes.
