St Andrews has a certain charm all year round but winter makes the historic town just that little bit more magical. The restaurants are buzzing, the Byre theatre full and independent shops serving up festive cheer.
Here are a few things we would recommend you see and do while visiting St Andrews this winter:
- Take a trip to Balgove Larder to start your Christmas shopping
Balgove Larder is a luxury farm shop just outside St Andrews. The Larder offers a huge array of items including a delicatessen, butchery, jams, preserves, coffees and alcohol. There’s also a gift shop and flower shop, making it the perfect place to start your Christmas shopping. Hampers and gift vouchers are available and they usually host a number of Christmas Market evenings too.
After you have visited the farm shop, you must find a seat in the café and sample the fresh and wholesome food on offer. From a full cooked breakfast to a hearty bowl of soup, plenty of sweet treats and daily specials. - Enjoy a distillery tour
Eden Mill make a range of craft Scottish gins, all packed with the wonderful flavours of fresh botanicals. They are currently offering virtual distillery and brewery tours as well as virtual cocktail classes and gin tasting experiences. Kingsbarns Distillery and Visitor Centre offers both whisky and gin tours where you can visit their exhibition, enjoy a guided tour and taste the produce for yourself. Find out more here
- Relax with a pampering spa treatment
Get set for the festive rush by indulging in a day of relaxation.
